Short answer

The best nightlife in Berlin is in Friedrichshain and Kreuzberg, where parties run from Friday night until Monday morning because the city has no closing time. On Friday and Saturday nights the U-Bahn runs all night. For a first night out, a guided club tour or pub crawl is the easiest way in, from €13.

What Berlin nightlife is like

Berlin nightlife goes all night. Unlike other German cities, Berlin has no official closing time.

At weekends, parties run from Friday night until Monday morning. On Friday and Saturday nights and before public holidays, the U-Bahn runs all night every 15 minutes. The S-Bahn runs every 30 minutes.

Pick your night first. Then the area and the way home follow from it.

Pub crawls and club tours in Berlin

A pub crawl is mostly about bars and shots; a club tour is about getting into clubs. All four tours here are for ages 18 and up.

Which pub crawl in Berlin?

The two classic crawls go through Mitte and Friedrichshain, with shots and VIP club entry. The budget crawl starts at €13; the English-only one at €23.

The alternative crawl swaps party bars for dive bars, squats and underground clubs. It meets at Oranienburger Str. 65 in Mitte.

Club tours: Berlin nightlife clubs with a guide

The club tour takes you to 3 clubs on a guest list, all within walking distance. It starts at Simon-Dach-Straße 32 in Friedrichshain. One club on the route has a strict no-photo policy.

If the guide walks ahead

Pick a tour that is built around the group. The club tour calls itself a social night, and the alternative crawl promises an intimate group.

Read the group rules too. On the club tour, groups of 6 or more men must book the private tour.

Shows, cabaret and evening entertainment

For a seated night out, Berlin has four big shows to book. The Friedrichstadt-Palast show has more than 100 artists and lasts about 2.5 hours.

Cirque du Burlesque at Alexanderplatz runs from 7 p.m. to midnight, with an after-party. Cirque du Soleil ALIZÉ plays at Potsdamer Platz; you cannot cancel it for free.

Cabaret plays in a tent near the Chancellery. It is spoken in German, with some songs in English, so it suits people who know the story.

Best areas for a night out in Berlin

The best areas for a night out are Friedrichshain and Kreuzberg. visitBerlin also names Neukölln and Schöneberg as nightlife districts.

  • Friedrichshain: clubs and open-air venues. The club tour starts here, and the crawls pass through.
  • Kreuzberg: bars on Oranienstrasse and Wrangelstrasse by the Spree. Kreuzberg is also easy to explore on your own.
  • Neukölln: bars around Weserstrasse.
  • Schöneberg: Winterfeldtplatz and the queer area around Nollendorfplatz.
  • Mitte: where most crawls and the big shows start.

How to get into Berghain and other clubs

Nobody can promise you entry to Berghain. visitBerlin says clubs like Berghain have strict doors, long queues and uncertain admission.

Berghain is at Am Wriezener Bahnhof in Friedrichshain. Its own website lists dated events, such as Klubnacht on Saturday, October 31, 2026, but no regular opening hours.

The Berghain doorman and bouncers: what we know

Berghain's own website does not state its door policy. Any "rules" you read elsewhere are guesses.

Its awareness page does set one rule: "only yes means yes!" People who cross the line are removed.

None of our tours gets you into Berghain. The club tour gets you into 3 other clubs on a guest list, and the crawls include VIP club entry.

What to wear and what not to do

Berlin has no general dress code, says visitBerlin. The tours do set their own rules.

  • Classic pub crawl: no shorts or slippers.
  • Budget pub crawl: no shorts or sportswear.
  • Club tour: no sandals, flip-flops or costumes.
  • Cirque du Soleil: no photos during the show. One club on the club tour has a strict no-photo policy too.

Is there a Berghain dress code?

Berghain's own website states no dress code. Read any outfit list online as opinion, not rules.

What is the Berghain outfit?

There is no official one. Our advice for any club: wear comfortable shoes and clothes you can dance in for hours.

Gay and queer nightlife in Berlin

The heart of queer Berlin is the area around Nollendorfplatz in Schöneberg. visitBerlin says it has been "a mecca for the queer scene since the 1920s".

The dome of Nollendorfplatz U-Bahn station has been lit in rainbow colors since 2013. In mid-July, the Lesbian and Gay Street Festival fills Motzstrasse.

If you want a guide, the club tour asks for open-minded, respectful guests and has an open, international crowd.

Where to eat and drink before the club

Eat currywurst or a döner before a long night: both are Berlin originals. Currywurst started at a Berlin kiosk, and berlin.de credits Kadir Nurman with döner in pita bread in 1972.

On Thursdays, Street Food Thursday at Markthalle Neun in Kreuzberg runs from 5 to 10 p.m., and entry is free.

Price guides gathered in October 2026 put a beer in a Berlin bar at €2 to €4.50, as listed in the 2026 Berlin Travel Cost Study.

Getting home safely at night

At weekends, the trains run all night. On Friday and Saturday nights the U-Bahn runs every 15 minutes and the S-Bahn every 30. Night buses replace the main bus lines.

From Sunday to Thursday, trains stop around 1 to 1:30 a.m. Then night buses take over, and the Metrotram runs all night.

Stamp a paper ticket before you ride, or you can pay a €60 fare. A taxi starts at €4.30. You can pay in cash or by card, but not every driver takes every card.

Keep your phone and wallet on your body, and do not fall asleep on the train at night. In an emergency, call 110 for the police or 112.

Our guide to getting around Berlin has the night-bus and ticket details.

Tips for a night out in Berlin

  1. Check your meeting point

Both classic crawls say the meeting point depends on the option. Read it on your booking before you leave.

  2. Bring a photo ID

All four tours are for ages 18 and up. The classic crawl asks for a passport or ID card; a copy is fine.

  3. Buy a transit ticket

The budget crawl asks you to bring a Berlin AB ticket. Stamp a paper ticket before you ride.

  4. Know what is included

Crawls include shots and club entry, not extra drinks. Shows include the ticket; food and drinks cost extra.
