About The Best Travel Destinations
We publish a series of independent city guides. Each guide answers one question well: what to do in that city, and what it costs.
Who we are
The Best Travel Destinations editorial team writes and checks every guide. Each guide has its own website, its own look and its own name, such as "Things to Do in Lisbon". This site brings them all together in one place.
The series covers cities in Europe, the US and Australia, and more cities join it all the time. Every guide is on our list of destinations.
How every guide is made
Every guide follows the same rules.
- Tours are checked live. We open each tour on GetYourGuide and note its price, length, group size and cancellation rules, with the date we checked.
- Hotels must be rated 8.0 or higher. Hotel picks link to Booking.com, and our rules allow only hotels with a guest score of 8.0 or higher there.
- Each city has a cost study. Each guide publishes a travel cost study. It measures hotel prices for each month, meals, tickets and transport, and shows what a day costs.
- Nothing is made up. We never invent ratings, reviews, prices or awards. Each fact on a guide names its source, and prices are shown as they were on the date we checked.
How this site lists the guides
Every guide in the series is on this site, grouped by region and by the kind of trip. We never rank them: the right city depends on your trip. The figures on our region pages come straight from each guide's own study, read on 27 October 2026.
How we are funded
This site sells nothing and carries no booking links. How the guides are funded is explained in our affiliate disclosure.
