What you will see at Keukenhof Gardens in Lisse

Keukenhof plants about 7 million spring bulbs. The park is at Stationsweg 166a in Lisse.

The early weeks show crocuses, daffodils and hyacinths. The bigger tulips come later.

About 100 bulb exhibitors and 500 flower growers show their flowers in the park.

There are flower shows in the park's pavilions all season. Keukenhof's 2027 program lists an Orchid Show in the Juliana Pavilion for the whole season, and changing shows in the Oranje Nassau Pavilion.

The Whisper Boat

The Whisper Boat is an electric boat that cruises past the bulb fields around the park, not through it. The trip takes about 45 minutes, with an audio tour in English, Dutch, German and French.

It boards next to the windmill in the park, about a 20-minute walk from either entrance. You need a Keukenhof ticket too, and boat tickets are for a set time.

Tulip fields in the Netherlands, outside the park

The tulip fields are farmland, so you see them on a tour or from a bike or car.

Don't walk into the fields: it damages the bulbs. Keukenhof says photos from the road are fine.

There is no cycling inside the park, but bike parking is free and you can rent a bike at car park P1.

The fields bloom with the season too, and no tour can promise flowers.

Amsterdam tulip tours to the fields

Four of our picks visit the fields:

  • Expert guide (Flagship Tours), from €128: at least 3 fields, lunch in Onderdijk and a windmill from 1633.
  • Tulip farm tour (HopOn HopOff Holland), from €87: Keukenhof plus a family tulip farm and a walk in its fields.
  • Tulip Experience ticket, from €13: a show garden, a museum and a bunch you pick yourself, about 2.5 km (1.6 miles) from Keukenhof.
  • Tulip Experience bus trips, from €38 or €39: from Amsterdam to the Tulip Experience and nearby fields, without Keukenhof.

Best time to visit and what if the tulips are late

Go in April or later for the big tulips. The early weeks show more crocuses, daffodils and hyacinths.

The Keukenhof Gardens tulip season runs from 18 March to 9 May 2027, but the big tulips come after the early flowers.

Bloom follows the weather, so Keukenhof does not promise flowers on a set date. It offers a bloom report to check before you go.

April is Amsterdam's driest month, with an average high of 14.3 °C (58 °F). King's Day, Tuesday 27 April 2027, falls in the season.

Tulips late? Move your Keukenhof ticket up to 24 hours ahead. The tours on this page cancel free up to 24 hours ahead.

Cancellation, crowds and photo tips

Book a tour you can cancel, or a ticket you can move: Keukenhof's own tickets can't be refunded.

Keukenhof gets about 1.4 million visitors a year. Arrive inside your time slot: online tickets don't work earlier or later.

With a flexible-return tour, you can leave when it gets busy.

For photos, the Tulip Experience bus trip lists photo spots with a windmill, a bike and giant clogs. The Tour Company trip allows unlimited photos in the flower fields.

The HopOn HopOff Holland Keukenhof tour asks you to bring a passport or ID card. A copy is fine.

  3. Bring a card, not cash

Keukenhof: questions and answers

How do I visit Keukenhof from Amsterdam?

Book a tour with transport and entry, from €59 on GetYourGuide. Or buy a timed ticket on Keukenhof's site and take bus 852 from Amsterdam RAI, about 35 minutes in the 2026 season. A train to Haarlem, Leiden or Hoofddorp plus a KeukenhofBuzz bus works too.

Where can I buy Keukenhof tickets?

On Keukenhof's own website, for €21 per adult, or at the ticket office for €27. Tours on GetYourGuide include the entry ticket. If you buy from another seller, you cancel with that seller.

Should I buy Keukenhof tickets in advance?

Yes. Keukenhof says online tickets are cheaper and guarantee your date and arrival slot. The ticket office charges more.

Can I cancel Keukenhof tickets?

Not Keukenhof's own tickets: they can't be refunded. You can move them to another slot up to 24 hours ahead, if there is space, or give them to someone else. The tours on this page cancel free up to 24 hours ahead.

Where are the tulip fields in the Netherlands?

Many are around Keukenhof and the Tulip Experience, which one ticket listing puts about 2.5 km (1.6 miles) from the park. The Flagship Tours trip visits at least three fields and stops for lunch in Onderdijk. Look from the road: walking in the fields damages the bulbs.

What is the Keukenhof Whisper Boat?

An electric boat that cruises past the bulb fields around Keukenhof for about 45 minutes, with an audio tour. It does not go through the park. It boards next to the windmill in the park, and you need a Keukenhof ticket too.
