Tickets to Neuschwanstein Castle compared

The official ticket is cheapest; a tour costs more because it adds a guide and a reserved slot.

The official ticket cannot be exchanged or cancelled. All three tours show free cancellation on GetYourGuide.

Watch out for look-alike sites. The castle warns that sites using its name are not its official shop.

The castle's own tickets cannot be exchanged or cancelled, so book them only when your date is fixed.

Neuschwanstein online tickets: the official shop

The official shop is shop.ticket-center-hohenschwangau.de. It takes credit cards and PayPal.

You can show the QR code on your phone. You do not need to print it.

How Neuschwanstein Castle online tickets work on the day

Arrive in the village at least 1.5 to 2 hours before your entry time. The walk or ride up takes time.

The castle's site says your ticket is scanned by its QR code. Your tour number then shows on a screen by the turnstiles.

Neuschwanstein reservation: when to book and what if it's sold out

Book online as early as you can: the castle does not say how far ahead tickets open, and its shop is updated daily.

If your date is sold out, check another date. Same-day tickets go on sale at the Ticket Center from 8:00, but they can be gone by late morning.

You cannot reserve by phone or email. If your date is still full, the guided tour with reserved tickets is the way in.

Getting to the Ticket Center

The Ticket Center is in Hohenschwangau village, below the castle. From Füssen station, a bus runs to the stop "Hohenschwangau Neuschwanstein Castles".

Going on your own? Our guide to the train Munich to Neuschwanstein covers the train and the bus to the Ticket Center.
