Houston hotel prices: what a 3-star night costs

In the 2026 Houston Travel Cost Study, a 3-star Houston hotel advertised on Google Hotels cost a median $85 a night for a room for 2 adults, before the 17% hotel tax (22 nights from November 2026 to September 2027, read on 25 October 2026).

Tips before you book

A few checks save trouble once you arrive.

  • Without a car, pick a hotel whose own description names a light rail stop.
  • Check if the price on screen includes the hotel tax.
  • For the Space Center, Clear Lake hotels sit next to NASA’s Johnson Space Center.
  • For Galveston, plan your own ride from Houston, because Island Transit runs on the island only.
