The best Houston Space Center tickets

See our 6 picks
For most visitors, the best Houston Space Center ticket is plain general admission: from €27 here with free cancellation, and it already includes the free NASA tram tour. Space Center Houston's own site lists adults at $29.95 to $39.95 online, by date, and more at the gate. Want to see Apollo's Mission Control? It costs extra, so pick a ticket that adds it: from €54 for the tour pass alone, or from €107 with entry.

Is Space Center Houston worth it?
Yes, if you like space. The tram tours and Mission Control are things you can only see here.
The ticket listing calls it the official visitor center of NASA Johnson Space Center. The NASA tram tour comes with every ticket.
Be honest about the cost, though. Parking is $10 plus a fee, and Mission Control costs extra. A family of four adds up fast.
In our view, young kids get the most from the inside exhibits. Older kids and adults get the most from the trams.
Which ticket should you book? Compare the options
Book the official general admission ticket unless you want Mission Control. It is the cheapest, from €27, and it has the most reviews by far.
Want Mission Control? Pick one of the four tickets that include it. They range from €54 for the pass alone to €166 for two days.
Free cancellation on all six, except the Mission Control part of the Double Play combo and the Mission Control pass.
NASA's Space Center Houston tickets side by side
Pick this if…
- General admission (from €27): you drive, and the free trams are enough.
- Mission Control plus entry (from €107): you want the Apollo room without booking it yourself.
- Double Play combo (from €89): you want entry and Mission Control for less, and can live with few reviews.
- Entry with guidebook (from €45): you want a plan for the day in your own language.
- Mission Control pass (from €54): you already have an entry ticket.
- 2-day pass (from €166): you want to see everything without rushing.

Johnson Space Center tickets: what general admission includes
General admission covers all exhibits and the NASA tram tour. You need a boarding pass for the tram.
It does not cover Historic Mission Control, parking, food, souvenirs or rides.
How much time to plan for your visit
Plan a full day. Each tram tour takes 60 to 90 minutes, and the last one leaves two hours before closing.
On the day we checked, the center was open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Hours change by date, so check yours.
Arrive at opening and get your tram boarding passes first. Then see the exhibits between trams.
The guidebook ticket plans 7 to 8 hours inside. Tours with a shuttle from downtown give you about 5 hours.
What there is to do inside
The ticket listings name these highlights:
- Independence Plaza, with a space shuttle replica on top of its carrier plane
- The Saturn V rocket in Rocket Park
- The Starship Gallery, where you can touch a moon rock
- Mission Mars and the International Space Station gallery
- The Artemis exhibit about the next trips to the Moon
Space Center Houston and Johnson Space Center: which part you see
The exhibits are in the visitor center. The tram tours drive you onto NASA's working campus next door.
The tram tour and Mission Control: how to get a spot
Three tram tours are free with entry. They are open-air, include some walking and depend on the weather.
Slots fill early on busy days. One city-tour listing warns that the Mission Control tram is not guaranteed and lines can be long.
- Astronaut Training Facility: get a boarding pass at Guest Services when you arrive.
- Rocket Park: no pass needed, first come, first served.
- NASA Campus Tour: a timed boarding pass from Guest Services.
- Historic Mission Control: costs extra and can only be added to general admission. The center advised booking about two weeks ahead.
Opening hours, parking and what to bring

Hours change by date. Check the center's hours page for your day before you go.
Visiting the NASA Space Center Houston visitor center: hours and parking
Parking costs $10 plus a service fee, paid by phone through QR codes. Members park free.
Entry is timed, with slots every hour until 2:00 p.m. Your entry time is not your tram time.
One Mission Control tour listing says water, small packaged snacks and backpacks are generally allowed inside.
How to get there from Houston, with and without a car
Space Center Houston is at 1601 E NASA Parkway. Travel listings put it about 25 miles southeast of downtown.
By car, that is roughly 30 minutes on I-45 south.
Houston to NASA without a car
The easiest way is a tour with a shuttle from downtown. Our guide to NASA tours, linked below the comparison, lists them.
Public transit is unclear. A few sources name weekday-only buses, but METRO does not confirm them.
A taxi from Hobby Airport costs about $41, on the airport's own list.
Good to know before you book: cancellation, kids, accessibility
All six tickets here have free cancellation on GetYourGuide. The Mission Control part of two of them is non-refundable.
If you book on the center's own site, you must ask at least 48 hours before your ticket time to refund or reschedule.
Children under 3 get in free but need a timed ticket.
The Mission Control bundle with entry is not for wheelchair users or babies under 1, per its listing. For the center itself, check its accessibility page.
