Niagara winery tours from Toronto

Yes, you can do a Niagara wine tour as a day trip from Toronto. Three of our picks start in the city. The drive is about 90 minutes each way.

The small-group day also stops at the falls. The other two focus on the wineries.

If you would rather stay a night, the Toronto to Niagara Falls bus and train get you there. Then a Niagara tour can pick you up at your hotel.

Winery tours from Niagara Falls hotels

Staying in Niagara Falls or Niagara-on-the-Lake? Five of our tours start there. That gives you more time at the wineries and less time on the road.

Two of them name their pickup area: Niagara Falls and Niagara-on-the-Lake. The others say "hotel pickup", so check your hotel is covered.

Pair a wine afternoon with the tourist attractions Niagara Falls offers, from the boat to the Skylon Tower.

Icewine and the wine year

Icewine is a sweet wine made from grapes that freeze on the vine. They are picked when it is about −8 °C or colder. A real one says "100% Icewine" on the front label.

Each January the Niagara Icewine Festival holds an Icewine Village on Queen Street in Niagara-on-the-Lake. Entry to the village was free in 2026. The dates for 2027 are not out yet.

The Shaw Festival in the evening

The Shaw Festival is a theatre festival at 10 Queen's Parade, with three theatres. Its 2027 season runs from about late March to late October.

In late 2026 its holiday shows run from early November to 23 December.

Getting to Niagara-on-the-Lake without a tour

There is no direct GO train to Niagara-on-the-Lake. Take GO to Niagara Falls. Then ride the WEGO Green Line to the Floral Clock and change to the shuttle to Fort George.

Fort George is a 7-minute walk from Queen Street. The shuttle is seasonal: in 2026 it ran daily from April into October, and the last bus back left at 7 p.m.

A tour is simpler: it drives you from winery to winery.

Tips for a Niagara wine tour

  1. Bring photo ID

You must be 19 to drink in Ontario. Staff check ID of anyone who looks younger.

  2. Check the pickup area

Most listings say "hotel pickup" without naming the area. Ask the operator before you book.

  3. Watch the minimum group

The icewine tour needs at least 4 guests. If it is short, you hear by 8 p.m. the evening before.

  4. Mind the cancellation rule

Seven tours let you cancel free up to 24 hours before. The Toronto wineries tour with optional lunch needs 2 days.
