Toronto at Night: Nine Evening Plans With Hours
Toronto at night means the lit CN Tower open until 11 p.m., dinner at 360 Restaurant, late food, and bars and a subway that run until about 2 a.m. Nine evening plans follow, each with the hours that make it work and the area it sits in.
Toronto at night works best when you pick one anchor and build around its closing time. The CN Tower, the markets, the museums and the bars all keep different hours, and the city is easy to move around once you know them. This guide gives nine plans in the order you might do them, with the hours that matter and a plain note on what no official page can tell you.
1. The CN Tower after dark: the lit skyline until 11 p.m.
The CN Tower's observation levels are open until 11 p.m., and the last entry is at 9 p.m. The tower's hours page lists 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. and says some Main Observation Level hours change on set dates in November and December. The Lower Level, 360 Restaurant and The Top are not affected by those changes.
The tower also lights up. Its lighting page says the tower lights up every night for major Canadian cultural moments, charities and special causes. The lights come on at sunset and usually are not visible for about 30 minutes, until the sky is dark. Go up around sunset and you see the city in daylight and then in lights.
An adult ticket for Timed General Admission is CA$47 before tax, and The Top is a CA$12 add-on. Buy only from the tower itself. Its terms make every ticket final sale, so pick your date with care. Our CN Tower page has the tickets and the getting-there details.
Want the tower and a driver? The premium night driving tour with CN Tower entry lasts 3 hours and is listed from €89 per person. It takes up to 9 people and includes hotel pickup and drop-off at ten listed downtown hotels, so there is no single meeting point. It also includes a guided stop in the Distillery District, and tips are not included. Guests rate it 4.67 from 646 reviews, See Sight Tours runs it, and the listing offers free cancellation up to 24 hours ahead. Go on your own if you only want the view, because the tower ticket is CA$47 before tax. The tour is worth the extra if you want the ride, the pickup and the Distillery District in one evening.
Pro Tip Arrive well before the 9 p.m. last entry, because a timed ticket is for one date and entry time and cannot be refunded.
2. Dinner at the top: 360 Restaurant
Dinner at 360 Restaurant runs from 4:30 p.m. to 9:45 p.m., and it is the easiest way to see the city lit up without queueing for a ticket. The tower's restaurant page says guests must spend at least CA$75 on food per person, or CA$40 for children aged 4 to 12. A meal also includes the Main and Lower Observation Levels after you eat, so you do not buy a separate ticket.
The page does not say how to reserve, so use its reservations link. The guide to the 360 restaurant at the cn tower covers prices, booking rules and what the meal includes. Book a table around sunset if you want daylight and lights in one visit.
Skip dinner if you only want a quick look. The minimum spend means dinner costs more than a plain ticket, and you are tied to a table for the meal.
3. An early evening in Old Town: St. Lawrence Market and the Distillery District
St. Lawrence Market is a before-dinner stop, because the South Market closes at 7 p.m. from Tuesday to Friday. On Saturday it closes at 5 p.m., on Sunday it closes at 5 p.m., and on Monday it is closed. The market's hours page lists all of this. For what to eat there, see st lawrence market.
The Distillery District is the next stop, a 13-acre walking district of old brick buildings. Its own site says it is open Monday to Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., Thursday to Saturday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Shops and restaurants set their own hours. Our Distillery District page has more on the area.
The Distillery Winter Village opens with a tree lighting on Thursday, November 12, 2026, at 6 p.m. The village's FAQ says you need a ticket from 4 p.m. on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. Admission is free before 4 p.m. daily and all day Monday to Wednesday through December 13. Tickets start at CA$16 plus HST (Harmonized Sales Tax) and a service charge, and children aged 9 and under do not need one.
Key Takeaway Two closing times set the early evening: the South Market shuts at 7 p.m. Tuesday to Friday, and the CN Tower takes its last entry at 9 p.m.
4. Breweries and bars: licensed venues serve until 2 a.m.
Licensed bars and restaurants in Ontario can serve alcohol from 9 a.m. to 2 a.m. every day except New Year's Eve, according to the AGCO, the province's alcohol regulator. Some licences carry conditions that shorten those hours, so a given bar may close earlier. The legal drinking age in a licensed venue is 19, and staff must check ID for anyone who looks younger.
For named breweries, the UP Express guide to 12 local breweries, from June 2023, picks a few close to the centre. Amsterdam Brewhouse sits on the waterfront near Union Station and has a two-storey patio at the water's edge. The Mill Street beer hall in the Distillery District has a German-style hall and a large patio, and Bellwoods Brewery on Ossington Avenue has a patio. The guide gives no opening hours, so check each brewery's own site for the evening.
If you would rather taste beer with a guide, the three-brewery craft beer tour is one option. It lasts 4 hours, meets at Keele Station and includes four 5-ounce flights at each stop, with a mini-coach or van between breweries. It is listed from €70 per person, tips are not included, and the listing gives no group size. Canadian Craft Tours runs it, and the listing offers free cancellation up to 24 hours ahead. The rating is 4.96 from only 9 reviews, so the sample is small. The listing says it is not suitable for anyone under 19, for pregnant women or for people with mobility impairments, and it asks you to bring ID. It gives no evening start time, so check the booking calendar for departures. Go on your own instead if you want one taproom and a seat, because the tour's value is the ride and the planned stops. Our page on brewery tours in toronto covers the tasting options more widely.
Drinks are best planned with a ride home. The subway runs until about 2 a.m., and the TTC's overnight Blue Night buses take over after that, so a late night does not need a car. Our getting around Toronto guide has the fares.
5. Late food: kitchens open until 2 a.m.
Several Toronto kitchens serve food until 2 a.m., and Destination Toronto names a few. Its list of bars with late-night food, published in September 2024, says 416 Snack Bar serves small plates until 2 a.m., seven days a week. The same list says the kitchen at Ultra Restaurant and Supper Club, at Yonge and St. Clair, serves American-Asian food until 2 a.m.
On King Street West, Abrielle has a late-night happy hour from 9 p.m. until close any day of the week, according to the same list. The page gives no kitchen closing time for it. Hours change, and the list is two years old, so check the venue's own page before you go.
If you want a good bar and not only a late kitchen, the same list picks three more. Bar Raval serves tapas and the page calls it a MICHELIN Bib Gourmand restaurant. Bar Mordecai on Dundas West has cocktails and private karaoke rooms downstairs. Chubby's Jamaican Kitchen has an upstairs bar that the page calls one of the most vibrant in Toronto. The page gives no hours for these three.
Tip 15 to 20% on the pre-tax bill, which is the standard that Destination Toronto gives. For daytime meals, see our Toronto food and restaurants guide.
6. Aquarium and museum evenings: Ripley's after 5 p.m. and ROM free nights
Ripley's Aquarium of Canada gives you the same daytime visit for less after 5 p.m. The aquarium's Sharks After Dark page says you save CA$5 on visits that start at 5:00 p.m. or later. It is not an adults-only night. You see the same galleries, including the sharks overhead.
The Sharks After Dark ticket is listed from €30 per person for about 2 hours, and its page names Ripley's Aquarium of Canada as the operator. Guests rate it 4.61 from 525 reviews, and the page shows free cancellation up to 24 hours ahead. The listing says Jazz Night happens on the second Friday of every month. The aquarium's own page gives no normal closing time. It does list early closures, including 5 p.m. on November 25 and December 3, 2026, so those days have no After 5 visit.
The Royal Ontario Museum (ROM) is free to everyone on the third Tuesday of each month from 4:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., according to its visitor information page. That makes it the cheapest evening on this list.
7. Night tours: bus, walk or van
A night tour is the easiest plan if you want the lit city and a guide. The night double-decker bus tour is listed from €32 per person and lasts 1.5 hours. It starts at 1 Dundas St E, comes with a guaranteed top-deck seat and live commentary, and has 4.4 from 199 reviews. The operator is Shop Dine Tour. Tips, food, drinks and hotel pickup are not included, and the listing gives no group size.
The dark history night walk is listed from €24 per person and lasts 75 minutes. It is run by The Haunted Walk and Hidden InSite, with a cloaked guide. The listing says it has four tour options and that the meeting point depends on the option you pick. It holds 4.7 from 314 reviews. Tips are not included, and the listing gives no group size.
The Best Travel Destinations' count of GetYourGuide listings for Toronto in October 2026 found 9 evening or night activities, the cheapest from €24 per person. The rest are festive-lights bus tours, a private night tour and a twilight bike tour of the Toronto Islands. Both tours above list free cancellation up to 24 hours ahead as the listings state it.
Tour or on your own? Go alone if you have one place in mind, such as the tower, the market or a bar, because a tour adds a fee for a ride you may not need. Book a tour if you want a guide, a set route and no planning. The walk and the bus are the cheapest at €24 and €32, and the driving tour is the only one with tower entry.
For the skyline at night, the CN Tower is the pick the official sources back. Destination Toronto calls the tower especially pretty at night, when the city's lights show. It says the best skyline views are from the Toronto Islands but names no night spot. The bus listing promises panoramic views from the top deck, and it does not name the skyline.
Skip the tours if you want to stay in one place. You see streets and landmarks from the outside, and none of the tours above includes dinner.
8. A game or a concert at Scotiabank Arena
An event at Scotiabank Arena is a ready-made evening with a fixed start time. The arena's events page lists Maple Leafs and Raptors games and concerts, and early November start times there are 7:00 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Tickets link to Ticketmaster, the arena's official ticket seller.
Dates and times change, so open the events page for the night you want.
9. The skyline from the Toronto Islands
Destination Toronto says the best views of the Toronto skyline are from the Toronto Islands, which you reach by ferry. Its views article is from 2022 and does not name a night spot, so treat it as a daytime and dusk tip.
Ferries run all year from the Jack Layton Ferry Terminal. The City's ferry schedule page shows a winter timetable for Ward's Island only, from October 14 to mid-April. The latest time listed is 11:45 p.m., but the page does not label whether that is a departure from the city or from the island. Check it before you rely on a late return.
For the skyline from the water, see our Toronto harbour cruises page. For a day trip out of the city, our Niagara Falls page explains the options.
How to choose Toronto at night
The best pick depends on your closing time, your budget and the area. This table sorts the nine plans by those.

Most Toronto evenings are decided by one closing time, so look it up before you leave.
If you arrive early, start at the market, then walk to the Distillery District, then go up the tower. The market is closed on Monday, and st lawrence market has its full days. For a bed near the action, see where to stay in Toronto. Prices and ratings as shown on GetYourGuide.
